“I play a union representative who has an identity... a little secret... a little secret like each of the other characters, that reflects on his, let’s say, soul... I don’t know... He is not much of a talker, by that I mean he knows about the tragedies associated with this factory, the fact that tragic accidents have taken place and people died... deaths that were probably caused by diseases the workers contracted while working with this rubber... cancer... And he has never ever spoken about what he knows because he wants to hang onto his job... From that point of view he is not an ambiguous character but to a certain degree, certainly, he is not fully aware of what a union representative should really be like. It’s a great role. I like it because it’s the first time I’ve had a chance to work with Silvio Orlando whom I admire immensely”.
