We chose the actors according to two criteria: The first one is obviously the one the scriptwriter has when writing a story, i.e. a face, a body, a look. We therefore look for that actor in particular. We tend to say "you are too tall, too small, too young, too old", until we find the actor we have imagined. The second one has been to chose very natural actors; not artificial ones but actors who, thanks to an inborn capacity to make everything natural, acceptable, credible, are able to put aside the literary aspect of the text. Therefore only a natural performance could have been the key to success to adapt this literary work. |
