Gert Wibe – Set Designer
I’m Gert Wibe, the set designer. Here in Sweden our style of teamwork is quite democratic – we’ve a leader elected by team members, while in France they seem to organise teamwork more like in a monarchy with strict hierarchy of who does what inside the team. These are two different systems but they’re not totally unrelated to each other. I believe that if you mix these two ways you’ll have a good and effective film team to work with.
Anna is a fantastic person and director. She actually has a Swedish mother, so she speaks Swedish and is able to help when we try to make ourselves understood to the French, who definitely do not know Swedish and their knowledge of English can also be a bit scant. But then you can always turn to Anna who’s ready to interpret. It’s a bit funny also that her father is the photographer on this film and the story is about a father and his daughter on their vacation in Sweden – it’s like a meta film inside the film. In my opinion, the summer has been fantastic – despite the lousy, windy weather with rain we have had an excellent production period.
