I wrote it before the war. I was in a very difficult situation. I was going to spend everything I had to go and see Hammaliye. Writing was the starting point for me. It was a very hopeless situation. When I wrote the short version of the story and showed it to Hüseyin, he got very excited and told me that he wanted to make a film about it. He wrote extra scenes and turned it into a feature-length film script. It was something we worked on by putting our minds and hearts together with Hüseyin. The point of this project was to share something with the audience that I could not live in my own life because of an unfulfilled love affair. I was either going to live it or write about it, and since there was no way for me to live it, I wrote it. The story became a film with Hüseyin’s help and I hope that we will have a chance to share it with others.
