Semih Kaplanoğlu – Director, scriptwriter, producer This is the first film of a trilogy.
The development of a character from childhood to youth and then maturity is mainly formed through the relationship with the mother.
The names of the films are Egg, Milk and Honey. Egg is the story of maturity of the character named Yusuf.
His mother died. He lives in Istanbul. After learning about his mother's death, he returns to his village where he meets his mother's caretaker, a young woman. Together they begin a journey.
The film is a metaphoric journey. A journey within. I wanted to tell a story about the detachment of human beings from nature.
Right now I am in the scriptwriting process and I am slowly developing the characters. We have been working for a long time on the development on the characters, space and rhythm. We wrote a subtext before starting shooting.
This project was supported by Eurimages and the Ministry of Culture. In some scenes we had 150-250 extras. It was not easy to control and continuing working like this was not easy.
